Apollo Beach

Apollo Beach, Florida – One of the fastest growing areas in Hillsborough County

Apollo Beach started in 1923 on land owned by a farming family led by its patriarch, Paul Dickman. Much of the land was a mangrove and low-elevation and was considered uninhabitable, so it was used for farming and grazing. In the 1930s, Paul Dickman saw the future value and came up with the idea bringing to the area a residential waterfront community which would serve as a midpoint between Tampa and Bradenton along U.S. Route 41.

Ninety years later time has proven that Paul Dickman was a genius. Apollo Beach has managed to thrive during the great recession and is currently one of the fastest growing areas in Hillsborough County. The area boast a great public school system with Apollo Beach Elementary, Eisenhower Middle School and East Bay High School. Between 2000 and 2010 population and households both increased by nearly 75%.
